As a photographer, Carol enjoys helping to create new organizations and especially enjoys sharing her experiences with individual artists just beginning a professional career.
Carol is trained in working with nonprofit organizations such as art, community service and church groups in educational and developmental positions. Her training and experience include developing mission statements, policies, procedures, programs and grant writing. She is also trained in budgeting and long range planning.
Her passion for preserving history and folk life led her to become trained as a Kentucky Community Scholar and as such she has written grants and carried out research in several areas including the oral history of Kentucky quilters and why they quilt, family and community involvement in growing tobacco and funeral traditions. She currently has an exhibit Funeral Traditions of the South touring libraries and museums in Kentucky. Her current photographic work focuses on documentary research, telling a story with her camera and her recorder.
Carol also enjoys helping new artists as they develop their goals and contacts and increase their experiences to include festivals, shows, exhibits and jurying into organizations.
