Bayley Amburgey is a community organizer and educator, as well as the manager of programs and student recruitment at the Louisville-based nonprofit Educational Justice. Bayley has years of experience in DEI and anti-racism facilitation and training, program development, organizational development, social media and marketing, event planning, and more. Bayley has also worked in outreach for several years within the nonprofit realm and is an expert at building and maintaining community relationships and partnerships.
As an organizer, Bayley has a strong online presence of over 4,500 followers across platforms, with excellent engagement. She has managed to run several mutual aid campaigns raising thousands of dollars, as well as organize actions around various political issues with much success, all via her online platform (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), etc.) She also helps manage and run her job's social media page. Bayley loves sharing these skills to help other organizations and individuals across her community to grow and continue their work.
As an artist, Bayley has been a classically trained singer for over 15 years. She has performed in several musical theater productions across the span of about 10 years, including shows such as Beauty and the Beast and Shrek the Musical. Recently, she worked as a traveling actor and show coordinator with Kentucky Science Center as their Assembly and Digital Programs Coordinator. As an undergraduate, she took art history courses and worked at the Speed Art Museum for two years, in guest services and the education department. In the latter, she spent much time creating curriculum for kids based on the Speed's permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. Bayley is a film and literature lover (she even runs a book club), and pop culture critic. She has spent many years consuming and analyzing media as an academic, especially within black feminist culture, and writing about it throughout her social media platforms.
Bayley is a UofL alumnus, a former Martin Luther King Jr. and Woodford R. Porter Scholar, and current cohort member of Kentucky Rural-Urban Exchange (KyRUX). She is an active mentor for Louisville Youth Group, a group serving LGBTQIA+ youth in the greater Louisville community, and looks forward to serving as an advisor and working alongside artists and art organizations as part of KPAN.
