Betsy Anne Huggins is a Louisville-based educator, arts administrator, nonprofit leader, teaching artist and playwright with more than 15 years of experience designing and leading arts education and community engagement programs. Her career has spanned theater, visual arts and music through leadership roles at Actors Theatre of Louisville, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Speed Art Museum and the Louisville Orchestra.
Huggins specializes in developing educational programs that connect arts organizations with schools and communities. She has extensive experience creating and revising K-12 programming, developing curriculum and educational resources, training teaching artists and staff, building strategic partnerships and marketing educational initiatives to public, private and parochial schools. She has spent hundreds of hours in classrooms as a teaching artist, collaborating with educators on arts integration, preparing students for performances and exhibitions and teaching playwriting to students of all ages.
In addition to arts education consulting, Huggins helps nonprofit organizations build meaningful partnerships with schools, libraries, colleges, universities, community organizations and service providers. Having served in roles ranging from intern to director, she brings practical experience in leadership, budgeting, fundraising, marketing and program development, enabling organizations to strengthen and expand their impact through education and community engagement.
Huggins has presented at conferences hosted by the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, National Art Education Association, and the Kentucky Museum and Heritage Alliance. She is affiliated with the Kentuckiana Cultural Consortium and continues to hone her skills as a teaching artist with the Kentucky Arts Council.
Huggins holds bachelor's degrees in theater arts and political science from Beloit College and is a proud alumna of the Governor's School for the Arts. As a member of the Kentucky Peer Advisory Network, she provides peer consultation to organizations seeking to strengthen educational programming, cultivate community partnerships and increase their impact through thoughtful planning and creative engagement.
